Travel days when visiting Asia.

Asia has no shared regional stay rule. Each country sets its own entry documents, permitted duration and extension options.

In brief

Check every trip against your passport, purpose of travel and the period actually granted on entry. Visa validity and permitted stay are not the same thing.

Japan

Japan exempts eligible nationalities from visas for certain short stays. Many eligible visitors receive up to 90 days, depending on nationality and purpose.

Thailand

Thailand distinguishes visa-exempt entry from several visa types and may require a digital arrival submission. Check the current duration and extension rules before travel.

Indonesia

For Indonesia, do not confuse the period in which an e-VOA can be used with the permitted stay. The immigration authority describes a 30-day e-VOA stay with one possible 30-day extension.

Separate country records

Record each country as a separate trip and retain the entry record, passport used and granted departure deadline.

What to check

  • Does your nationality qualify for the selected entry route?
  • Does tourism cover your actual purpose?
  • Is an eVisa, arrival card or visa on arrival required?
  • Must an extension be requested before expiry?
